I belong to a group in Paducah called the Paducah Arts Alliance.  This group brings in people from all over the country and world to Paducah to spend some time in Paducah, Create art, and engage in the community.  This months artist is Dario Lazzaretto and he is from Italy.  Dario is here to work with a select group of students to create his instillation project(which will be posted later) since he was already in my class I had him show off some of his "Scribble Birds" to the 3rd and 4th graders.
To create this work the students divided up the paper into 4 sections and made a quick scribble line in each section.  Then they had to add an Eye, feathers, legs, and wings to the bird.  Dario explained how to look for these features and he also demonstrated how he creates his.  I think that its a great opportunity to have an artist from Italy in the class, even if it was for just a short time.

  1. I have been following your blog for a while now and didn't realize that you were so near Paducah!!!! I am originally from Marshall County, KY and use to go to Paducah all the time! Paducah is a great place with so many wonderful opportunities for artists and art educators :)
