2nd Grade Large Self Portraits

The 2nd grade just finished working on these large scale self portraits of themselves falling out of the sky.  The paper was almost as big as them so they really loved getting on the floor and coloring away on these.  We traced their hands and feet and then I demonstrated how to draw the rest of the body and then they went to work.  Fun project.

Cassette Tape Portraits 8th Grade Art Club

With the Art Club I want to make sure that they are ready for the High School so I have found really different projects for them to do to challenge their creativity.  This is the Cassette tape Portrait of a musican, used with a real cassette tape to create this picture.  The biggest problem with this project is that the students couldn't open the cassette tape case because they have never seen one besides that it was a great project.  They are hanging in our school library.

Radial Design 7th Grade

The newest completed project from the 7th grade is a Radial Design project.  These students used rulers and compasses to compete this work.  They look great in the hall.

Doodle 4 Google

Each Year Google holds a contest for students to create a Logo for Google.  This years theme was "If I could travel in time, I'd Visit..." I entered the whole school in this contest  I feel that we have some really good ideas.  The Prizes for the One winner is $50,000 for the School and Most importantly $30,000 for the student to use towards College.  Here are a few examples from MES.

1st grade Houses

First Graders created these houses last week.  They did a great job with coloring the whole page, front and back.  Lots of work and they turned out wonderful.
