Lino Cuts

8th grade art club created these prints, they were to create a face card from a lino cut.  They were encouraged to try layers but only a few dared to go for the challenge.

3d Names

This is a project I tried out this year with my 5th grade class.  I found this project on pintrest and I think that its a little too much for my 5th grade. They had a hard time understanding the 3d aspect of this picture. A good amount turned out well but I was hoping for a Higher success rate. Regardless these girls did great!

Fall Leaves

2nd graders have been hard at work creating these leave pictures.

Day of the Dead Two Way

I have wanted to do a two way picture for sometime now but couldn't think of a great idea.  Then came October and Day of the Dead is upon us.  For this work we discussed day of the dead and also how to decorate a sugar skull.  Each student had to complete 2 skulls, one in black and white, another in color with one background color.  We used 9x12 paper to draw out the skulls, when they were completed we used 12x18 paper and folded it into 3 in increments, according style.  Then we cut our skulls into 3 inches each and attached them to the white 12x18 paper and then finally taped them onto construction paper.  It was a great project that the students got really involved in, it was great watching them walk back and forth to see each skull.

MURAL!!!!

After 3 weeks of painting with over 500 students the Mural is finished.  Each class had the opportunity to come out and use their hands to paint.  And a little Keith Haring art history snuck in as well.   It has really brightened up the Elementary playground.

BIG WIP

This year my principal asked if I could change my schedule for a couple of weeks and become an Art on a Cart teacher, in order to help out with a class that was growing while we add on an extra classroom to the school.  Instead of doing that, I asked if I could do a mural on the large storage building in the back of the school.  My principal and superintendent were supportive and we ordered paint and I got to work.  The middle symbol is our schools logo and coming out from that is a color wheel created with students hands(about 550)  I am not done yet, but this is a great project for every student to be involved in.  More to come in the next week or so.
This is the main reason I have not posted any elementary projects.

Positive Quotes / Hand Lettering

This is the first art project from my art club this year.   We again worked on hand lettering a positive message. Students got to choose their quotes and then drew them out.  I have 15 students so I split their work up around the school, so far we have had a great response.

Stain Glass Hands

This project is a good one to start the year off with the 3rd grade.  We trace our hands, put an X through the paper and then they  have to draw 3 lines that intersect with their hand.  Then when they color they have to use primary and secondary inside or outside the hand and the other for the background.  Its a pretty easy assignment but its mostly based about if they can follow directions or not.   Either way these turn out pretty great.

Elementary Classroom

So over the last week or so I have been setting up my classroom at the Elementary school.  I had moved rooms over the summer so it was pretty amazing to see what I have accumulated over the last 8 years in one class room.  I have always had the big cabinet with the drawers but never put the time to organize it  the way I wanted, so with this move I thought I would organize it correctly.  There is still plenty of room to add stuff too but over all I am happy with how my room turned out, now time for lesson plans.
